Illustrations and 3D

Summary

I draw instinctively. I find it to be the best way to express my ideas. Sketching and illustration are the quickest way to express a rendered 3D sculpture, or the way the sun comes through a window onto a pillowcase.

A background in traditional sculpture led me to digital modeling and texturing. I was first introduced to 3D Studio MAX, then moved into Lightwave, and finally to Maya. This is a sample of my recent 3D artwork, including textures and fully-composed images. Everything pictured was conceptualized and created completely by me.

Retired

This project was done for a digital photo class. My goal was to create a story with a series of images using as low a polygon count as I could, while keeping the images interesting. All the scenes have a maximum of 10,000 scene triangles, but most ended up being under 5,000. The main character has 1500 triangles in her head, and 1500 in the rest of her body. The Alien has 1000 in his head, 500 in his hat, and another 400 in his jacket. His hands also have 500 triangles each. All objects, environments and textures were created by me in a 2 week period. The order images in the story is from left to right, then continues to the second line.

World Art

The Cabin, Bald Guy, and Luggage are from a "Snakes on a Plane" world. The main environment of the world was a first class cabin. I researched planes and first class cabins and created a hybrid environment that could best fit the field of view that the head mounted display.

The last boy image was made for a world about the Darfur struggle, the video can be found here . The boy was the main character and the physical form of the player.
